It says that Fuji Shrine was founded during the Eikyo era(1429-1440),
and Konohanasakuyahime-no-mikoto,one of three beautys of Japan,
was the deity,but it is not certain.Fuji Gongen is the deity
in the present Fuji Shrine.
Formerly it was located on the top of hill surrounded with dense
trees in the corner of Arajuku-cho.
Now Fuji Gongen is worshiped by people in the neighborhood
as the tutelary god not only for Arajuku-cho but also for
good harvest and easy delivery,affectionately called "Gongensama".
Annual festival day is June 14 in the lunar calendar.
